Workspace
The workspace is the folder Otta can read and write, and where generated files land.
The workspace is an ordinary folder that determines which files Otta can reach on its own. It defaults to a folder in your home directory.
Folder structure
Created on first use:

Everything in them is an ordinary file — notes are .md, spreadsheets are .xlsx. Any application can open them, and you can copy them out or include them in your own backups.
Moving it
Settings → Storage → change the workspace path. Contents migrate and the index follows; no rebuild required.
Files outside the workspace
Give an absolute path in the conversation:
Tidy up the files in D:\Work\Reports
Otta can go looking inside the workspace; outside it, you name the target.
Multiple workspaces
Register one per project, each with its own:
- Include / exclude rules — which files are indexed
- Indexing mode — file names only, or contents too
Excluded by default
Neither indexed nor synced, with no configuration required:
.git/ node_modules/ dist/ build/ target/
.env* *.key *.pem anything containing "secret"
Troubleshooting
Otta says it cannot find my file
It is outside the workspace. Move it in, or give a full path in the conversation.
A file I just added does not show up in search
The index has not caught up. With the File Search plugin installed, run "File Index" to rebuild.
I cannot find a generated file
Look under Documents or Images in the workspace. Asking Otta "where did that file go" also works.
