How Credits work, what to do when they run out, and why sync needs a paid plan.
What Credits are
Credits meter AI usage. Saying something to Otta, or having it run a task, costs an amount that depends on the model used and how much material it worked through.
The Credits included with each plan, and the prices, are whatever the account page shows at the time you order.
Credits included with a subscription refill every Monday, are valid for that week, and do not roll over. You pay monthly; the allowance is released week by week rather than granted in one lump. Credits bought as top-up packs do not expire. Subscription credits are consumed first; top-up packs only after those run out.
Sync needs a paid plan
Cloud sync is a paid-plan capability. The free tier can use every local feature normally — settings and plugin data simply do not travel between devices.
When credits run out
Three options:
- Buy a top-up pack — a one-off addition that does not expire
- Upgrade your plan — takes effect immediately; remaining time carries over by value
- Fill in your own API key — works immediately and consumes no allowance at all
